RAFF Plastics is a family-owned waste recycling company with more than 45 years of experience. They buy waste such as plastic bags and recycle it into raw materials used to make storage boxes, flower pots, laundry baskets, buckets and more. Businesswoman Caroline Van der Perre - winner of the Womed Award 2023 for female entrepreneur of the year - dreams of even processing waste from the ocean into usable raw materials in the future. As CEO of RAFF Plastics, she searches every day for new solutions for a more sustainable world. And for that, she also counts on Van Hool.

As a plastics specialist, RAFF Plastics collects industrial plastic waste and cleaned post-consumer waste for reuse. The plastic waste is recycled and processed into new ready-to-use compounds in polypropylene (PP), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polystyrene (PS) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC). That accounts for some 70,000 tonnes of grindings, granulates and agglomerates delivered to injection moulding companies every year. Production runs non-stop, 24 hours a day. Constant quality and flexibility in development are among its greatest strengths. The internal transport company Carotrans is a licensed waste collector and ensures a quick and easy service. With their own trucks, trailers and staff, they collect plastic waste or supply new raw materials.

This involves the use of thirteen Van Hool curtainsider semi-trailers and two 40 ft high cube Van Hool container chassis. The most recent addition is destined for the brand new Volvo FH Electric truck. It is a curtainsider semi-trailer that can be attached to a classic diesel truck or to an electric truck.

With electric drive, a frame is placed in the trailer to optimise the distribution of the load; with classic diesel drive, the frame is removed so every inch of the trailer can be utilized. This combination perfectly illustrates RAFF Plastics' message: circularity, sustainability, recycling and climate go hand in hand.
